Diane Belfiglio

Belfiglio was an award-winning and celebrated artist whose works were featured at numerous galleries and museums around the world. Most recently, Diane received the 2023 Award of Excellence from the Ohio Arts Council. She was an Assistant Professor of Art and Studio Coordinator at Walsh University, where she taught for 23 years. Previously, she had taught at Syracuse University, Kent State University, and the University of Akron.
Belfiglio earned her B.F.A. in painting, drawing and graphics from The Ohio State University in 1978 and a M.F.A. in painting from Syracuse University in 1980. She has received numerous professional artistic awards including four grants from Arts in Stark. Belfiglio has exhibited in over 225 group and solo art shows regionally, nationally and internationally. Her works are included in six museum permanent collections including the Butler Institute of Art in Youngstown, the Canton Museum of Art and the Ichiku Kuboto Museum of Art in Tokyo, Japan. In addition, her work is featured in sixteen different corporate, university and hospital collections as well as in numerous private collections. Her painting, “Trumpeter of Justice” was selected for the permanent collection at the Stark County Courthouse. In 2018 she was chosen by the First Lady of Ohio to be the “featured spotlight artist” in the Governor’s mansion in Columbus, Ohio. Belfiglio also was the recipient of numerous honors at Walsh University, touching on her scholarship, teaching, and advising.
