Emily Orsich
Orsich has always been captivated by the experience of artmaking - using artwork as a mode of self-expression and representation of herself through multiple mediums, such as acrylic paint, oil pastels, and graphite. Orsich’s work is primarily driven by emotional mapping, how she experiences the world visually and interprets it physically and metamorphically. Orsich feels that in displaying this work she is delving into the realm of her vulnerability. Years ago she experienced the profound loss of her brother, and the memories of him continually influence her work – both seen and unseen.
Emily has stated, “that human connection is innate and may not always be conveyed through verbalization, but felt and seen through the process, creation, and viewing of her art.” Orsich continues by explaining the theme of her latest collection: “Imagine if your inner world could materialize – what would it look like and reveal about yourself? Is it vibrant and dynamic, or shrouded in mystery? ‘Are You There?’ revolves around the idea of self-discovery amidst the unknown… Physical, energy, emotional, and mental, capturing the essence of different periods in our lives in an abstract form.” She goes on to say, “… My work aims to provide a visual to the non-verbal, internal world we experience.”
