Bio

Patrick G. Buckohr studied graphic design at the University of Akron and worked in printing and publishing in and around Canton, Ohio for 15 years before leaving that career to follow his dream of making art full time.

For another 10 years he balanced freelance work in graphic design and illustration with public murals and other fine art pursuits, until a commission stirred within him a passion for sculpture. Buckohr has spent the last 15 years throwing himself at the medium of forged and welded iron at his studio in downtown Canton. He has 63 pieces of public art in Northeast Ohio including murals and iron work.

Buckohr has been in many group shows regionally and once in New York. His first solo show was at the Charles Meyer Gallery in Akron, Ohio in 2011. This show is his first since.

Statement

I desire so much to make objects that people covet. The artwork I’m presenting to you here reflects my desire that a work of art instill in the viewer a little sense of awe and at the same time this wonderful environment affords us a chance to experience how comfortable it can be to live with art everyday.
